Joseph P. Smith is the principal criminal defense attorney at the Law Offices of Joseph P. Smith. His practice focuses on complex criminal offenses including gang crimes, drug charges and felony charges.

Joseph has over 35 years of criminal law experience. As a criminal defense attorney, he has protected the rights and freedom of hundreds of clients across Southern California. His work includes challenging investigations, complex negotiations and representing his clients as a trial attorney.

Prior to opening his own practice, Joseph acted as a Senior Deputy District Attorney in the Orange County District Attorney’s office, where he handled juvenile, misdemeanor, and felony criminal cases, while training police officers and attorneys on local, regional, state, and federal laws.

Joseph’s experience with the District Attorney’s office allows him to predict the strategies used by the County and State and counteract them in order to protect his clients.
